Terms of use

These terms apply when you use the VoText app for iPhone and iPad and its related services (“VoText”). VoText is provided by [To be filled in by the owner: legal name of the data controller], [To be filled in by the owner: registered address] (“we”, “us”). By using VoText you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Paid plans and credits are also covered by the subscription terms. How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
What VoText does
VoText turns speech into text and text into speech. It can record audio or import files, transcribe them with speaker labels and timestamps, read text aloud, and export the results. Transcription and read-aloud are performed by third-party AI services, which the app names before you use them. Recordings and transcripts are stored on your device.
Who can use VoText
You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you are under 16, or under the age of digital consent in your country, use VoText only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Your account
You can use VoText without signing up. The app creates an anonymous account tied to your device, which holds your credits. You can sign in with Apple or with an email code to keep your credits across devices. You are responsible for keeping access to your Apple Account or email address. Without signing in, credits stay with the device they were bought on and can be lost if you reinstall the app or change devices.
Credits
Transcription and read-aloud use credits, as explained on the pricing page. Credits are a license to use VoText, not money: they have no cash value, cannot be exchanged, and cannot be transferred to another account, except where the law requires otherwise. The app shows what a job will cost before it starts, and a job that fails or is canceled is not charged.
Your content
You keep all rights to the audio, text and transcripts you create with VoText (“your content”). You give us permission to process your content only as far as needed to provide VoText to you: to send it to an AI service, receive the result and return it to you. We do not use your content for anything else, and we do not use it to train AI models.
You are responsible for your content. In particular:
- Recording other people: many countries require the consent of everyone being recorded. Only record conversations you are allowed to record.
- Rights in what you submit: only import audio or text you have the right to use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use VoText for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
- submit content that you know infringes someone else’s rights;
- try to get around credit limits, starter credit limits or device checks, or to create accounts to collect free credits;
- reverse engineer, overload or interfere with VoText or its servers, or access them other than through the app;
- use VoText to build a competing service or to extract data from the AI services behind it.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
Accuracy of results
Transcripts and generated speech are produced by AI and can contain errors, especially with background noise, overlapping speakers, accents, names and specialist terms. Check anything important before you rely on it. VoText is not a certified transcription or translation service and must not be the only basis for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
Changes and availability
We keep improving VoText, so features may change. We may change how many credits a feature uses; the app always shows the cost before a job starts, and changes never apply to jobs already started. We aim to keep VoText available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, for example during maintenance or when an AI service is unavailable.
Ending your use
You can stop using VoText at any time and delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; subscriptions are managed through your Apple Account. We may stop offering VoText; if we do, we will give reasonable notice in the app.
Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, VoText is provided “as is”. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract, including statutory warranties that apply where you live.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you did not export or back up. Our total liability for any claim relating to VoText is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Terms required by Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for VoText or its content. Where these terms do not cover something, Apple’s standard license agreement for apps applies.
- License: you may use VoText on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules.
- Maintenance and support: we alone provide maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to do so.
- Warranty: if VoText fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for VoText to the extent the law allows. Any other claims, losses or costs from a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, as far as these terms say so.
- Product claims: we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims relating to VoText, including product liability claims, claims that VoText does not meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property: if someone claims that VoText infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance: you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms: you must comply with the terms of any third-party service you use with VoText, such as your mobile network.
- Third-party beneficiary: Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law
[To be filled in by the owner: governing law and courts]. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring proceedings there.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you continue to use VoText after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can stop using VoText and delete your account.
