Subscription terms
Draft, pending legal review. This text may change before VoText launches.
These terms explain how paid plans and credits work in VoText. They add to the terms of use. All purchases are made through Apple’s App Store and charged to your Apple Account.
Credits
VoText measures use in credits:
- Transcription uses 1 credit per minute of audio, billed by the second, with a minimum of 10 seconds per recording.
- Read-aloud uses 6 credits per minute of generated speech with standard voices and 20 credits per minute with premium voices, billed by the second, with a minimum of 5 seconds.
The app shows the cost before a job starts. Credits are reserved when a job starts and only what the job actually used is charged. If a job fails or you cancel it, nothing is charged.
New accounts receive 20 free starter credits, once per device. Starter credits do not expire. They are not a free trial of a subscription and do not turn into a paid plan.
Plans
| Plan | Price in the US App Store | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| VoText Plus, monthly | $6.99 a month | 800 credits each month |
| VoText Pro, monthly | $14.99 a month | 2,000 credits each month, premium voices, and files up to 5 hours long |
Without Pro, files can be up to 2 hours long.
Plan credits are added at the start of each billing period and are valid for 12 months from that day. Unused plan credits carry over and add up while you stay subscribed, and each month’s credits keep their own expiry date. The app shows how many plan credits expire next and when.
When you use credits, the plan credits that expire soonest are used first, then starter and top-up credits.
Top-ups
| Top-up | Price in the US App Store |
|---|---|
| 300 credits | $3.99 |
| 1,000 credits | $9.99 |
Top-up credits never expire and stay available whether or not you have a plan.
Prices
The prices above are for the US App Store in US dollars. In other countries the App Store shows the price in your local currency, including any taxes, before you confirm a purchase. Prices can differ between countries.
Automatic renewal
Plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. Your Apple Account is charged for the next month within 24 hours before the current period ends. To avoid being charged, turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Canceling
You manage and cancel your plan in your Apple Account settings: on iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then VoText. Apple explains how to cancel a subscription. Deleting the app or your VoText account does not cancel a plan.
When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. After that, the plan and its features end. Plan credits you have already received stay usable until their own expiry dates, 12 months after each was added. The same applies when a plan ends for any other reason, for example because a renewal payment fails. Starter and top-up credits stay.
Changing plans
You can switch between Plus and Pro in your Apple Account subscription settings. Apple decides when the change takes effect: usually an upgrade from Plus to Pro starts right away and Apple refunds the unused part of the current month. In that case the unused credits from that Plus month are removed and the credits for your Pro month are added; credits from earlier months keep their own expiry dates. A downgrade usually starts at the next renewal.
Price changes
We may change the price of a plan. Apple tells you about a price increase in advance and, where required, asks for your agreement before it applies. If you do not agree, the plan ends at the end of the current period. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
We may also change how many credits a feature uses. The app always shows the cost before a job starts, and a change never applies to a job already started.
Refunds
Apple processes all payments, so refund requests go to Apple. How to request a refund from Apple.
If Apple refunds a month of a plan, the credits from that month that are still unused are removed. Credits from that month you have already used are not charged back, and other months are not affected.
If Apple refunds a top-up, the credits it added are removed. If some of them were already used, the missing amount is settled from the next credits you receive, and new jobs are paused until it is.
This does not affect any right you have by law, such as a right of withdrawal, which you exercise through Apple.
Restoring purchases
Plans can always be restored with the Apple Account that bought them: in the app, open Settings, Account and credits, and tap Restore purchases. Top-up credits belong to your VoText account; sign in with Apple or email to keep them on a new device or after reinstalling.
Contact
Questions about a purchase: support@votext.app. Include the date of the purchase; Apple’s receipt email is enough. We never need your card details.
